It was never speed that caused them. Here is how I can prove speed is actually not a problem:
If we were all driving Model-T Fords, then going 50km/h would be very dangerous. If we were all driving UFOs with anti-collision systems, not going at warp speed would be a waste of time.
The speed at which you can driving safely depends on:
1. Your vehicle
2. The road
3. Yourself (skills, mental/physical state, awareness etc)
