One needs to look closely at the Terms and Conditions closely before accepting the LDW. Budget, in Vancouver British Columbia, stipulates in their terms and conditions that "if you are in violation of any provision of the law" you are no longer covered. One takes out collision coverage to cover damage to your vehicle if you are in an accident that is your fault. People make mistakes. I made a mistake in diverting my attention from the road to the windshield wiper control that was hidden behind the thick steering wheel spoke for 2 or 3 seconds. I rear ended the car in front who had come to a rapid stop in bad weather and bad traffic. The police gave me a ticket for "undue care". Budget said as a result of getting a ticket I was " in violation of a provision of the law" and hence not covered. Total cost $15800.00
