ASIMO Honda humanoid robot, turns 10

ASIMO has reached a very important and will celebrate its 10th anniversary on October 31. With 10 years ago, Honda has created a humanoid robot so advanced that sparked a revolution in the technology of humanoid robots.

To mark this date, was launched today on the official site new pictures, videos, story development and applications for smartphones.

The software for the iPhone and Android smartphone platform, "Run to the ASIMO", introduces the Honda ASIMO and other robots as characters that can interact with the user. (The application for the iPhone and Android will be available soon).

The research work of Honda humanoid robotics began nearly a quarter century ago and 14 years later, on October 31, 2000, ASIMO was created. Since its disclosure at the Technical University of Darmstadt in June 2003, ASIMO has inspired, educated and influenced thousands of people in the region and was hailed as engineers and scientists.

ASIMO visited science museums throughout Europe, met royalty and heads of state, visited by the European Parliament.

Honda ASIMO is part of the long-term research and development in robotics and human mobility. Honda's goal is to develop a robot that will be able to help people in everyday life, a robot that will take over some tasks which would help us to have an easier and more enjoyable life.

The advantages of such a humanoid robot might not be limited to home environment, could include any situation where people would need help and assistance.

Honda now focusing its research in the development of information and improve understanding of the relationship ideal interaction between humans and humanoid robots.

ASIMO project's ultimate goal is to create a humanoid robot really usable and continue to develop intelligent systems to be used in other Honda products. Furthermore, Honda is the partner of many European educational projects in order to inspire students to become more involved in science and engineering.
