Aston Martin Announces New Collaboration With Zagato

Aston Martin has announced a new collaboration with Zagato to mark the 50th anniversary of the iconic model DB4GT Zagato. The first product of this partnership will be premiered at the Villa D'Este Concours on May 21.

Aston Martin, the famous Italian design house Zagato has a long and a first relationship of successful collaboration, which culminated in the production of iconic DB4GT Zagato, 50 years ago.

"DNA's Aston Martin and Zagato has previously been successfully combined to make one of the most desirable collector cars in the world and this year's anniversary DB4GT Zagato is appropriate to explore a modern partnership. Now is time for a new Aston Martin Zagato inteleligent combining our design, I think we can create something that is iconic DB4GT Zagato has awarded the title of the most famous Aston Martin of all time, "said Ulrich Bez, chief executive UK.

Work on the new Aston Martin Zagato, what might be called Zagato DB9, is underway and a first concept will be presented at the Villa D'Este contest on May 21 to see the reaction of customers, will drive the number of be produced in 2012.

The first partnership between Aston Martin and Zagato was held in 1961, after Aston Martin created the sporty, ultra-light, DB4GT. Seeking versions and easier and more efficient, Aston Martin turned to Zagato, a company known for such projects. 19 cars were built DB4GT Zagato, all now available through various private collections.

After 25 years, the two companies joined forces and created again in 1986 V8 Vantage Zagato, followed by V8 Vantage Zagato Volante.

The most recent project was DB7 Zagato, launched the first at the Paris Motor Show in 2002. 99 units were sold to customers, and the number 100 was held by Aston Martin.
