|
The number 1 million - a vehicle metallic blue color Audi Q5 - was delivered to a customer in Changchun. This achievement illustrates the success story that began in 1988 with the start of assembly of the Audi 100 in China.
Ceremony to reach 1 million cars sold in China was held at the Changchun plant German manufacturer. "This record is still an important event in the history of Audi in China," said Rupert Stadler, Head of Audi AG. "We are the first premium brand to fulfill 22 years of presence in China and we are the unrivaled leader in this segment - a success story which we are very proud."
Among the cars delivered to customers, 950,000 have been produced at its plant in Changchun and another 50,000 were imported.
To date, no auto manufacturer in the premium segment has not managed to sell over 1 million cars in China market. In the first nine months of 2010, Audi delivered 175,000 vehicles in China and Hong Kong, also a record.
"In 2010 we delivered a total of over 200,000 cars to customers in China," said Dr. Dietmar Voggenreiter, president of Audi China. "And we already set itself the important target: we want to get the 2nd one million cars sold in China in the next three years."
Audi in Changchun plant produces the Audi A6L, A4L and 2009, Q5, designed specifically for the Chinese market.
