Audi Q5 Hybrid Fuel Cell

Under the name of Q5 HFC (Hybrid Fuel Cell) Audi has unveiled a prototype hybrid-powered fuel cells, exposed during the Challenge Bibendum as pure and simple feasibility study.

This car shows the developments achieved in the study of fuel cell systems and uses components made in synergy with the hybrid future, except of course the two cylinders when the hydrogen is stowed at a pressure of 700 bar. The polymer electrolyte membrane (PEM) of the cell produces an output of 133 horsepower, while the lithium-ion battery contains 1.3 kWh of energy.

The PEM is supported by a pair of electric motors run in the vicinity of the wheels, for a combined output of 122 hp and 420 Nm of torque. Any indication of their independence, even if the Q5 HFC has performed well in the 300-kilometer rally InterCity.
