BMW officially launched the next generation X3 at Paris Motor Show

Update! BMW officially unveiled the next generation X3, which will be officially launched at the Paris Motor Show in October. The new BMW X3 will be produced at the plant in Spartanburg, North Carolina (USA).

BMW officially unveiled the next generation X3.

The main features of the new BMW X3:

  •  Significant increase in space, optimizing functionality and improving ride comfort.
  •  New X3 strengthens its leading position in terms of agility and efficiency with new engines, eight-speed automatic transmission, suspension and innovative technology BMW EfficientDynamics program.
  •  To launch the new X3 will offer two engine variants: BMW X3 xDrive20d four-cylinder diesel engine (135 kW/184 hp and 380 Nm, fuel consumption 5.6 litres/100 km) and motor BMW X3 xDrive35i six-cylinder petrol (225 kW/306 hp and 400 Nm, fuel consumption 8.8 litres/100 km).
  •  Auto Start Stop function works with the first six-cylinder engine and automatic transmission with eight steps.
  •  BMW xDrive all-wheel-drive technology has been aligned to optimize dynamics and is available in standard and optional setting with Performance Control.
  •  New suspension technology and power assisted steering systems are available for the first time in a model X, and optionally available system "sports steering variables.
  •  The new BMW X3 is the first X optional equipment Damper Control and Dynamic Ride Control.
  •  New X3 has a high level of variability within, thanks to folding seats in the ratio 40:20:40, with a maximum load volume of 1,600 liters.
  •  BMW ConnectedDrive range of options include head-up display, Internet access, video camera for reversing the "Top View".

The next generation BMW X3 builds on the success of the first model X3 2003 which so far has sold over 600,000 units. The new BMW X3 will be produced at the plant in Spartanburg, North Carolina.

Update June 4:

BMW has revealed new information official of the second generation X3, before its world premiere debut at the Paris Motor Show.

Scheduled to be put on sale in November producer prices which officials say will be close to the current model, the BMW X3 has been completely redesigned and improved the technical part. BMW hopes that the review tool to help achieve the success of the first generation, the share has already reached 600,000 units sold since the entry into production in 2003.

Increased exterior dimensions have led to improved indoor comfort: rear passengers have 20 mm more legroom and luggage capacity has been expanded to 80 liters, far reaching, according to BMW, the best value in its segment - 550 liters.

BMW has confirmed to Autocar that the next generation X3 will be offered with four engines. Range includes gasoline propeller units of 3.0 liter six-cylinder, 268 hp, fitted to the X3 xDrive28i and 3.0-liter twin-turbo with 302 hp for X3 xDrive35i. Diesel range will consist of units of 181 hp 2.0 liter to 3.0 liter X3 xDrive20d and 241 hp for X3 xDrive30d.

BMW will launch after launch and engine versions, including 2.0-liter 201 horsepower engine for X3 xDrive23d. German manufacturer is likely to launch a model ActiveHybrid, but most likely after 2012.
