Chevrolet Volt has been named Green Car of 2011 |

Extended range electric car Chevrolet Volt in 2011 was named Green Car of the Year (Green Car of the year) by the Green Car Journal. Volt is the first electric car that won this award.
"We waited this long," said Ron Cogan, editor and director of U.S. magazine Green Car Journal and editor GreenCar.com. "Electric vehicles have been tested on the market in 90 years we have launched a challenge, but did not have a solid business. How much difference a decade makes! "
Volt runs only between 40 and 80 km of electricity, with a single battery charge, then to operate the engine / generator with a 1.4-liter gasoline engine, generating electricity to drive the wheels still 500 km on one tank full of gasoline. Volt's extensive autonomy meets the anxieties of autonomy associated with dedicated electric vehicles with batteries.
"Green Car of the Year Award validates the promise of the Chevrolet team to provide a practical electric car," said Joel Ewanick, Vice President of Marketing for General Motors in the U.S., who led a Volt over a distance of 3853 kilometers from Detroit to International Auto Show in Los Angeles, where he accepted the award Thursday. "The Volt is a transformative technology that will lead the automotive industry into a new era of electrification of the car."
Other Green Car Award finalists were: Ford Fiesta, Hyundai Sonata Hybrid, Hybrid, Nissan Leaf Lincoln MKZ. Jury Awards Green Car of the Year was composed of six experts in ecology and industry, together with the Green Car Journal editors.
Chevrolet Tahoe 2-Mode Hybrid is Green Car of the winners from previous editions....
