Chrysler name will disappear from Europe

Chrysler's European dealer network and Lancia will decrease by approximately 350 distributors and Chrysler name will disappear from showrooms main markets in Europe under the proposed reorganization of the management activities of Fiat Group.

Nearly 1,200 European dealers were Chrysler and Lancia on May 31, 2011 notified that their contracts expire, this is another step in creating a single network of distributors for both brands.

Since 2011, Chrysler cars will be sold under the brand Lancia throughout Europe, except Britain and Ireland, where no representations Lancia. Chrysler's name will remain here.

Termination of contracts affecting 1150 Lancia and Chrysler dealers and takes effect in 12 months, according to European norms.

Now, Lancia has 595 dealers with 785 showrooms in continental Europe. Brand stopped selling cars in Britain and Ireland in 1991. Chrysler, whose contracts include the Dodge and Jeep brands, has about 556 dealerships and 750 showrooms.

"Our plan is that by May 2011 to have devised an integrated network of Lancia / Chrysler which contained nearly 800 dealers and more than 1,000 showrooms," said Francois Olivier, CEO of Chrysler and Lancia, for Automotive News .

Lancia, brand "almost premium Fiat sells the most cars in Italy. Last year, the brand sold 121,000 vehicles in Europe, of which 102,000 units in Italy. Chrysler sales in Europe totaled just 11,500 cars in 2009.
