Citroen is preparing for the first stage of the season WRC 2011: Swedish Rally

After several months the technical team has worked intensively on developing the new machines, crews Sebastien Loeb / Daniel Elena and Sebastien Ogier / Julien Ingrassia are prepared for the first confrontation, snow and ice in the Rally of Sweden.

Citroen Total World Rally Team will throw in fighting in season 2011 World Rally Championship, WRC DS3 two new models to defend their world titles to builders and pilots.

After the success of the Xsara WRC and C4 models, both crowned with three constructors world titles, Citroën wants to defend his title with the new DS3 WRC model that meets the new rules for the 2011 season by the FIA World Rally Championship.

DS3 model WRC is a shorter and more compact than previous versions used by Citroen in the Rally World Cup and will be powered by a turbocharged, direct injection 1.6-liter that was developed by engineers at Citroën Racing. The new generation of World Rally Championship cars, designed to reduce costs in the sport will get more prominent and talented drivers.

The only rally in the calendar which takes place only on snow and ice, for a long time, was an exclusively Scandinavian business. Since the first edition, scheduled for 1950, the only driver who managed to defeat the Norse in Sweden was Sebastien Loeb, Citroen driver won the rally in that year became the first world champion.

Two models DS3 Citroen WRC crews will be used by Petter Solberg / Chris Patterson and Kimi Raikkonen / Kaj Lindstrom. Both Petter Solberg and Kimi Raikkonen have traveled 250 miles from the tests on a similar surface to that of Sweden. Solberg was able to set their car on the basis of his style of flying and appeared excited and enthusiastic about the new engine performance. Raikkonen was also pleased with the behavior of the first test car, where he tried different settings, its aim is to finish as close to the two factory teams.
