Citroen Metropolis - Hybrid Concept 460 horsepower

Update! Citroën unveiled the new Metropolis - a concept that muscular, athletic, which pays homage to the extraordinary development in China. Designed by international design team Citroen, headquartered in Shanghai, Metropolis will be displayed at Shanghai World Fair.

Reflecting the status of China's greatness and vitality, limo concept is based on "Creative", combining in a balanced way responsible for environmental and driving pleasure with luxurious comfort. Incorporating a hybrid powertrain and suspension Hydractive, Metropolis Citroen concept produces on average just 70 g CO2/km (consumption 2.6 l/100 km) - about a fifth of the value of a conventional gasoline engine with similar performance.

Metropolis distinctive silhouette of the concept is a vision of creative and sophisticated luxury, with an imposing stature (5.3 m long, 2 m wide and 1.4 m high), reflecting the dynamism and ambition of China for the 21st century.

Metropolis combines the styling of the concept curved lines with flat surfaces, as evidenced mainly in front, carved, winged poignant. Narrow headlights have a sporty look, giving the vehicle an authoritative air.

In back, Metropolis combines carefully width aerodynamic lines, incorporating a spoiler Citroen active and signature design, and the concave rear window glass. Chrome accents around the glass surfaces make the car look longer cabin, while lights "origami" seem to float.

Powerful propulsion system concept Citroen Metropolis is composed of a V6 petrol optimized 2.0-liter mated to a dual-clutch gearbox and seven steps, with an electric motor that develops 55 hp continuously (40 kW) and a maximum of 95 hp (70 kW). Metropolis can operate in full electric mode (ZEV - Zero Emission Vehicle). Constant speed on main roads or highways, petrol engine develops 272 hp (200 kW) and 375 Nm. When more performance is needed, as in cases of excess, the car uses two motors, hybrid system in this case providing a maximum of 460 hp (345 kW) and 430 Nm - power equivalent to a 4.0-liter V8. There is also a four-wheel drive mode, which springs into action when one requires adherence to the ground.

Metropolis Citroen concept, which could underpin the next generation Citroën C6 The French flag will attend the Shanghai World Fair on May 1 until October 31, 2010.
