Crash Test anniversary: the 1959 Chevrolet Bel Air Vs. Chevrolet Malibu in 2009

IIHS, in order to celebrate the 50th anniversary of a crash test conducted with two sites Chevrolet: Bel Air model, the model 1959 and Malibu in 2009. The result would show the progress made in the past 50 years for car safety.

To demonstrate, visually, how much of advanced automotive safety in the past 50 years, IIHS (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety), equivalent to Euro NCAP in the U.S., released a video whose protagonists are two Chevrolet models entering the frontal collision. The two models, which divide them by 50 years of development and technology are the Chevrolet Bel Air cars, the Chevrolet Malibu in 1959 and in 2009.

According to safety engineers on the spot, the driver of the Chevrolet Malibu would certainly have suffered some injury to the knees. Furthermore, the driver model Bel Air, 50 years old, had died instantly.
