Dacia Duster, eligible to the European Car of the Year 2011

Dacia Duster is one of the 35 models chosen for jury eligible European Car of the Year 2011, along with "brother" Renault Wind and "cousins" Juke Nissan, Leaf and Micra.

The organizers reserved the most important European competition car, the European Car of the Year, announced the list of 35 models will enter the fight for the grand prize awarded in the autumn. They are, in alphabetical order:

To be eligible for Car of the Year list, a car to be launched in Europe during 2010 and appears on at least two continents until mid 2011. The competition is organized by seven major European publications: Auto (Italy), Autocar (Great Britain), Autopista (Spain), Autovisie (Netherlands), L'Automobile Magazine (France), Stern (Germany), Fri Bilägare (Sweden).

2011 Car of the Year jury consists of 59 members representing 23 countries in Europe. Representativeness of each country in this panel is given the volume of sales in that country and the role played in car building industry. France, Germany, Britain, Italy and Spain have the largest number of representatives each - six.

Jury members are chosen according to personal skills and depending on the publications they represent. Jury Committee addressed invitations to potential new members based on recommendations of regional groups. In each year, all judges must confirm that the test car has most of his business.

Jury Committee shall consist of elected officers plus three organizing publications annually. Prize of 2011, chairman is Hakan Matson (Dagens Industri, Sweden), Vice President Sergio Piccioni (El Mundo, Spain) and general secretary Frank Janse (Stern, Germany).

Last year, the big title in Europe's 2010 Car of the Year was won by VW Polo.
