Daimler returned to profit in third quarter
Daimler, Mercedes-Benz manufacturer, has shown in the third quarter net profit of 56 million euros, but 74% lower than the same period last year, and estimated that it will record positive results in the fourth quarter.
In the third quarter of group turnover was 19.3 billion euros, down 21% compared to the same period last year, said the group, confirming a figure announced a week ago.
Sales in the third quarter fell by 26% over the same period of 2008, to 386,461 units, particularly in the Division of trucks (46%), a sector where Daimler is the first in the world. Compared to the previous quarter, the sales decrease was limited to 1%.
Daimler presented last week a series of preliminary results from the estimates of analysts, marked a return to profit Mercedes-Benz division.
The group, which was severely affected by the crisis, has compiled a comprehensive savings plan, whose level was initially set at 4 billion, to be easily exceeded.
