DaimlerChrysler sales rose by 27%
In the second quarter, Daimler sold 496,500 cars and commercial vehicles, surpassing the previous year's volume by 27%. Q2 revenues grew significantly, from 25.1 billion euros this year (28% vs. 2009).
Mercedes-Benz Cars division saw higher sales by 19% to 342,500 vehicles. For Mercedes-Benz, it was the most profitable quarter to date, division sales rose 24% to 314,400 vehicles. For the sake of development, smart fortwo model sales fell 27,100 units (Q2 2009: 33,500). Mercedes-Benz Cars income rose 33% to 14.0 billion euros. EBIT profit increased by 1.7 billion euros to 1.376 euros. Recovery of sales was 9.8% (Q2 2009: minus 3.2%).
Increasing trend was mainly due to increased supplies of motor vehicles, especially in China and better product mix. Substantial improvement in profitability due to price and efficiency and optimized, but positive rate of exchange.
Daimler Trucks sales grew 55% to 83,800 vehicles.
Divisions according to estimates, Daimler expects total sales to increase significantly in 2010 (2009: 1.6 million vehicles). Daimler Group expected to achieve a considerable increase in income in 2010 (Q2: EUR 78.9 billion).
Given the favorable development of business support to all divisions and favorable exchange rate offered by Daimler Group revises its estimates positively on total earnings. For 2010, Daimler expects EBIT profit of 6 billion.
Mercedes-Benz Cars will have a high rate of profitability due to new E-Class models will be increased sales and new supersport model Mercedes-Benz AMG SLS and autumn of 2010 the new generation R-Class and CL-Class. Since the third quarter of 2010, cars will be equipped with new engines performing six eight-cylinder petrol.
To make smart growth in demand is anticipated in the third quarter of 2010, following the launch of new generation smart fortwo. Amid an attractive and competitive range of cars, smart division expects Mercedes-Benz brand sales to double in 2010.
For the second half of 2010, Mercedes-Benz Cars Division states that will follow the positive trend in first two quarters, but not with the same dynamism.
