Engine Of The Year Award 2011: 4 Awards For BMW

We've already talked about the success of Fiat and Ferrari for Engine of the Year Award 2011. But the German automaker BMW has had great satisfaction in the competition taking home four awards category with motors 4, 6 and 8 cylinders. BMW has been confirmed as the most successful manufacturer in the history of this competition: since 1999, the Bavarians have in fact taken home more than 50 wins between those segments and global ones.

Going to space requirements, the first prize this year went to Monaco is the category for engines of between 1.4 and 1.8 engine. Same was the 4-cylinder 1.6 of the Mini Cooper S to victory. It is equipped with a twin-scroll turbocharger, direct injection and Valvetronic valve lift system. Features that make it the most powerful unit of its type (184 hp) and its displacement.

The second title went to biturbodiesel 2.0 204 bhp common-rail, a winner in the category 1.8/2.0. The third award was instead awarded if the six-cylinder 3.0-powered twin turbo power with twin-scroll turbocharger, direct injection and Valvetronic: Available in capacities from 306 to 320 hp depending on the model. It 's the second consecutive year that this unit wins in its class (2.5 to 3.0 L). But the real winner is the 4.0 V8 from 420 hp in the M3, a winner in the category from 3.0 to 4.0 liters. The eight-cylinder high-speed rotation, the only unit drawn from the award-winning engines and BMW designer, won the title for the fourth consecutive year.
