Euro NCAP tests and highlights the new advanced safety

Euro NCAP today announced the "Euro NCAP Advanced" - a scoring system for the new advanced security and assistance systems, which are increasingly integrated in new cars. At the Paris Motor Show the first results will be disclosed.

Recent technologies have brought much wider range of safety systems in cars. Facilities such as Lane Departure Warning, Blind Spot Monitoring, Attention Assist Emergency Call Autonomous braking and are increasingly offered as optional on new cars. However, with so many technologies on the market, and without an independent body to give advice regarding the safety benefits they offer, many customers are confused.

Advanced Euro NCAP aims to offer car buyers a clear perspective with regard to the safety benefits offered by these technologies themselves and their families. This new scoring system, complementary to the existing Euro NCAP rating, will recognize and reward those manufacturers that promote safety technologies that have been scientifically proven benefits.

Recognizing technologies that are now equipped luxury models or as an option, Euro NCAP will 'force' for producers to accelerate as standard equipment the most important technologies related to safety as many models.

Many of these technologies are so new that there is no accepted standards to test them. Euro NCAP has developed a unique methodology to determine the potential safety benefits of new technologies. To test the classic Euro NCAP crash tests involving physical laboratory, a new process is based solely on scientific evidence presented by the manufacturer. A group of independent experts examine the issue of safety technology that tries to remedy. Through a rigorous analysis of how technology was developed, tested and validated, and real world experience that can exist, system performance and effectiveness can be determined. Recognizing the potential benefits of these new technologies do not undermine the importance of safety in any way caused by impact testing: cars qualify for Euro NCAP Advanced "only after having obtained at least three star rating overall.

Under the Paris Motor Show in October, the association will provide the first notes of a set of producers for their efforts in developing new advanced safety systems.
