Fiat 500 BEV - surprise presence in Detroit

Without much fuss the press, Fiat presented at the International Auto Show in Detroit electric version of the famous Fiat 500, with 500 Abarth - European manufacturer's first model to be launched in the U.S. market at the end.
Fiat has not released any press release across the street from this model but according to journalists present at the Detroit Electric model Fiat 500, named 500 BEV (battery electric vehicle), is only a concept, the Italian manufacturer having to plan the introduction a version of its series, at least not in this form.
With regard to exterior design, Fiat 500 BEV is similar to variant 500 Abarth sports with other wheels and no exhaust system (as an electric model has no polluting emissions). Inside, the concept has received red leather upholstery and sports steering wheel and gear shift lever has been replaced with buttons that control the automatic transmission.
After taking over management of the Chrysler, Fiat announced it will enter the U.S. market its European models, the first being the Fiat 500, but the Abarth version. With the bonnet a 1.4 liter engine, Abarth 500 offers 160 hp.
