Fiat and Chrysler will build the 2012 Jeep models and Alfa Romeo in Italy

Following the investment of over one billion euros, Fiat Group will build Chrysler and Jeep models Alfa Romeo global distribution as part of a new joint venture will take over the Mirafiori plant in Turin, Italy.

Alliance Fiat-Chrysler will invest over 1 billion to refurbish the plant and produce sedan and station wagon Giulieta sites for Alfa Romeo and mid-range SUVs for Alfa and Jeep says Automotive News Europe. Production will begin in three or four quarter of 2012.

Fiat According to preliminary estimates, half of the vehicle production plant in Turin will be sold in Europe, and the other half will be exported mainly to North America.

Sergio Marchionne, Fiat chief alliance - Chrysler, revealed this information during a meeting with trade unions at Mirafiori. 5,800 employees working at Mirafiori and last year 178,000 cars were manufactured here.

In June of last year, Fiat acquired 20% stake in U.S. automaker Chrysler and has the ambition to make this alliance one of the biggest players in the global auto market, able to produce over six million vehicles by 2014 compared to about 4 million today.
