Ford launches safety belts with airbags

Ford announced the first inflatable safety belts, designed to provide extra protection for occupants of rear seats, which are usually children or the elderly, vulnerable to injury in accidents.

New seat belts with airbags are designed to dissipate the impact force over an area five times the body than conventional belts, thereby helping to reduce pressure on the chest, to control movement of the head and neck.

According to a study by the American producer, over 90% of respondents stated that the new inflatable safety belts are similar or even more comfortable than the traditional and probably will increase the number of those using seat belts in the back seat.

Seat belts "Inflatable" will start on the new generation of American-type model SUV - Ford Explorer, which will go into production next year. Depending on impact, Ford will then decide whether the new technology will be globally integrated in all its cars.
