U.S.: Ford to recall 4.5 million cars checks

In the U.S., Ford has announced that the recall for examination about 4.5 million vehicles to replace a cruise control switch system that could cause fires under certain conditions, writes Le Figaro quoted Hotnews.
Ford says the switch, manufactured by Texas Instruments, may cause leakage of hydraulic fluid that could overheat and could catch fire, with the risk of fire even if the machine is stopped.
Recall site includes especially SUVs and trucks produced between 1992 and 2003, and Ford says the car does not present a hazard in terms of safety because none was involved in a fire, but check for potential customers do not lose confidence. Owners of vehicles covered will receive letters home between October 26 and December 11 to warn them to go into service for the switch to be changed.
Recall's is the latest in a series totaling over 16 million cars called to check the same type of problem in the past decade. Ford made the first recall for this problem in 1998 and until now there were eight sets of vehicles recalled.
