Ghosn: Nissan sales could top GM

Nissan this year could top GM, climbing as the third place among car producers by number of cars sold, the general view of the Alliance, Ghosn was quoted by Financial Times.

"2010 is likely to be among the top three," Ghosn said in an interview with the Financial Times, quoted by Mediafax. He estimated also that cumulative sales of Renault, Nissan and AvtoVAZ's Russian partner could reach seven million units this year.

According to these estimates, Renault Nissan alliance would occupy third place in the world after the Japanese car manufacturer Toyota and Volkswagen-Suzuki alliance, such depăsşind GM.

Renault's performance will be supported by returning AvtoVAZ, a group that was close to bankruptcy in 2009. Russian car manufacturer would sell between 600,000 and 700,000 cars this year because the government program, recently implemented, the national fleet renewal.
