Group reported record sales for the first nine months

Volkswagen Group has delivered a total of 5.37 million vehicles to its customers in the first nine months of 2010 (January-September 2009: 4.76 million, +12.7%). In September sales rose 7.9% to 663,100 units.
"We are very pleased. We anticipate that the Group will establish a new record for annual supplies. Even if you expect a positive trend for auto industry, we remain cautious, "said Christian Klinger, leading member of the Volkswagen Group, responsible for sales. "Volkswagen will continue to renew its range of innovative and environmentally friendly models, while maintaining sales growth so now," Klinger added.
The Group increased sales in all major regions
Volkswagen Group again recorded significant increases in key markets such as China and the U.S.. Deliveries in the first nine months grew by 39% in China, up to 1.48 million cars and 21.2% in the U.S., up from 267,500 units. In the Asia Pacific Group sales rose by 39.7%.
Volkswagen sales in Europe increased, reaching 2.5 million vehicles (+1.1%), while the overall market to contract by 2.3%. The EU remains Russia's largest market, where the Group sold 92,300 cars (27.2%) in the first nine months of 2010. In Western Europe (excluding Germany) group also had an important increase of 15.5%. On the German market, which shrank by 27.5%, Volkswagen sales are still declining, reaching 770,000 units (-19.3%) recorded in January-September 2010.
All brands are registered volume growth
In the first nine months of the Volkswagen brand delivered a total of 3.39 million cars (+12.2%). During this period, the German brand has continued to grow in the Indian market. Deliveries have more than seven times (16,000 units, up from last year's 2.200). In China, Volkswagen has sold 33.9% more than in the U.S. with 20.6% and 26.2% in Russia.
From January through September, Audi delivered 829,300 cars (+17.6%) all over the world. In September, the Ingolstadt has also benefited from strong growth in China and the U.S., as well as an increase in the German market, where deliveries rose 16% from the same period last year.
Skoda remains on growth, delivering 75,800 cars in September (compared to 69,000 last year) - the highest monthly sales figure. In the first nine months, Skoda has increased overall sales by 12.8% to 569,000 units.
Spanish brand Seat delivered 259,100 cars worldwide (+1.4%) in the first nine months of 2010. During this period, significant increases compared Seat in Spain, where sales rose by 24.2% to 74,500 cars.
Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles Division increased sales by 15.9% to 261,400 units in first 9 months. In South America, deliveries rose by 81.1% to 80,500 units.
