Elantra's design philosophy is rooted in the Hyundai design called "carving fluid, dynamic and sophisticated lines that designs the look of the vehicle.
Elantra's design team managed to give the sedan a strong and confident image, by lowering the roof line by creating well defined wheel arches and adding full of character lines that extend from column A, de- over the bonnet to the front bar. Refined design is reflected in the interior of the new Elantra. Due to the low roof line and trunk line, the new Elantra has a more sporty profile and a drag coefficient of just 0.28, which translates into less resistance to progress and thus lower fuel consumption. A slightly raised roof and rear lamps help drawing attention to a slight motion of the air. A wind deflector located in the middle of the floor and under the car ensures perfectly flat surfaces to minimize turbulence.
2012 Hyundai Elantra has a wheelbase of 2,700 mm, 50 mm longer than the previous generation. Its total length is 25 mm greater, measuring 4.530 mm, while the width remains the same: 1.775 mm. Height was lowered by 35 mm, reaching 1,445 mm, but without compromising headroom. The cab has been increased to 18 liters.
The new Elantra will be offered with a new petrol engine, D-Gamma 1.6-liter MPI CVVT, coupled with manual and automatic transmissions with six reports.
With a lightweight aluminum structure due to engine Gamma 1.6-liter four-cylinder MPI is equipped with D-CVVT variable valve timing to get 132 hp at 6,300 rpm and to allow for low emissions and lowest fuel consumption in class. Maximum torque is 158 Nm at 4850 rpm.

2012 Hyundai Elantra will be available for sale in Romania, Spain and other European countries in the third quarter of this year, yet unspecified price.
