The first Hyundai Pony, imported in 1977, Hyundai has now reached five million cars sold its European customers. The anniversary is an i30, first released in 2007 and then sold over 320,000 units.
Hyundai sales have increased steadily since 1977, culminating with a recent increase in demand for cars has led the brand to reach one million in just the last three years. For 27 consecutive months until March 2011, Hyundai has exceeded the market trend in Europe.
It took until 1996 for Hyundai to register first million cars sold in Europe and two million were achieved in 2001. With a growing reputation and brand among European customers as a result of extending the network of dealers, Hyundai has reached three million units sold in 2005 and in 2008 exceeded 4 million.
With the introduction of the i30 in 2007, sales have reached a major Korean company in Europe. Hyundai i30 was not only the first product designed specifically for European customers but also the first model to bear the prefix "and" establishing a nomenclature that continues today.
I30 was soon followed by i10 and i20, Hyundai diversifying the range of models including the compact MPV and SUV ix20 ix35 - all designed specifically for Europe.
