March 2011 the best month ever for Skoda

With 85,000 deliveries (74,900 units last year), the Czech car manufacturer Skoda reported in March the best month for sales in its history and continued strong growth in the previous year.
The company has strong first quarter of 2011, sales increased by 21.4% to 217,000 units (178,900 units during January-March 2010). In this process, Skoda has recorded a record sales markets in India, Russia and Belgium.
"We will continue to make very good progress and we remain confident in the car market our sales growth throughout 2011, compared with the previous year," said Jurgen Stackmann, sales manager of Skoda Auto.
On the Czech market, Skoda has gained market share from 30.6% in March 2011, registering a total of 5,100 units, up 9.2%. The best-selling model was the Octavia Combi.
On other markets in Central and Eastern Europe, the manufacturer has kept the trend and recorded the highest increase in March. In Hungary, Skoda sales rose by 10.8% in Slovenia and in Ukraine by 22.1% to 54.0%. In Romania, Skoda sales in March rose by 35% and the first quarter the company has a 34% increase from the same period last year.
In March 2011, customers worldwide have chosen Skoda Octavia (34,200 units, 15.2%), Fabia (27,300 units, 17.6%), Superb (11,700 units, 37.3%), Yeti ( 7000 units, 37.7%) Roomster (3700 units, 12.8%).
