McLaren F1 celebrates its 20th anniversary |

On the 20th anniversary of McLaren F1 is considered by many as one of the coolest cars ever. Exclusivity, technological innovations, the origin of motorsport and driving experience have turned it into a symbol.
In 1988, McLaren decided to extend the F1 championship, building "the finest sports car the world has ever seen." In March 1990 met for the first time the team that created the model F1. Two years later, McLaren F1 was launched in May 28, 1992 in Munich, the first car was delivered in December 1993.
McLaren is a pioneer in carbon fiber. McLaren Formula 1 team was the first that used a carbon fiber body, in 1981. Used for nine years, these techniques have been used a formula to develop a carbon monocoque body McLaren F1: the resulting structure, weighing only 100 kg, offering a high level of rigidity and safety.
F1 was launched in 1994 at a price of £ 540,000 and over the next four years were produced 64 F1 units, five units and three F1 GT F1 LM - street car, with 28 F1 GTR - racing cars, all comes with a BMW V12 engine that develops 600 horsepower and 680. Additional prototypes were produced and six.
In October 2008, a model of the McLaren F1 was sold at auction for 2.53 million pounds, again underlining its status as an icon in the automotive world.
With the launch of McLaren Automotive in March 2010, the British company started producing a new range of sports cars, designed and built entirely by McLaren. The first of this series will be the model MP4-12C.
