Mercedes-Benz Actros is equipped with the new Active Brake Assist 2

The safest truck in the world is safer now and Mercedes-Benz is presenting the second generation system Brake Assist Actros Active Brake Assist comioanele heavy, with an efficiency between 0-90 km / h.

This unique, award-winning multiple occasions is now even more advanced. If the first generation technology automatically brake when detecting the risk of rear-end collision with an obstacle located in front of slow moving vehicle, 2 Active Brake Assist is activated and if it detects a static obstacle. Active Brake Assist has proven performance in over 14,000 trucks haul more than three billion miles on the roads of Europe.

Active Brake Assist: tested and verified by more than three billion miles

Anti-lock braking, skid control to start, disc brakes both front and back, automatically controlled braking system, high pressure braking system, Brake Assist, Lane Assistant, running control, control maintaining a distance - the list of safety technologies and systems implemented by Mercedes-Benz is very high. One element is distinctive revolutionary Active Brake Assist system, which was built heavy trucks Mercedes-Benz Actros in 2006 and has managed to consistently confirm efficacy.

Many truck drivers have reported situations where the safety system to prevent accidents. Experts confirm: Active Brake Assist has saved lives - not just drivers and passengers of the Actros, but also those of passengers of vehicles in front. Many insurers are also convinced that this system is beneficial to their customers and thus for them, offering discounts and bonuses for commercial vehicles equipped with this technology.

The new system Brake Assist, Active Brake Assist in February, setting a new beginning. If first generation safety system automatically brake when detecting the risk of rear-end collision with a car in front, the Active Brake Assist 2 triggers when it detects obstacles still brake like a car blocking the highway. Daimler Trucks has taken an important step in achieving the objective of reducing accidents, part of its global initiative "Shaping Future Transportation".

Static radar system detects obstacles

Radar used by the Active Brake Assist 2 scans a range of 100-200 meters before the line truck and constantly calculate the distance to the vehicle in front or to a static obstacle and the speed difference between the two vehicles. If, in this case, is inevitable accident, the driver initially receives visual signals in the form of an illuminated red triangle and then a beep. If things get worse, the brake system responds.

Warning concept was designed to allow drivers to avoid a critical situation - because braking initiated by Active Brake Assist 2, with 50% of maximum power braking force, it gives the driver time to prevent an accident.

Decisive advantage: effective between 0-89 km / h and robust in all weather and lighting condition

Compared with other systems in development, Active Brake Assist 2 provides differential benefits. For example, the radar technology tested and verified promptly operate in any weather or lighting conditions. Furthermore, Active Brake Assist is effective in all gears of the truck - from 0 km / h or a low speed to speeds up to 89 km / h (when the speed limiter is activated).

Although Active Brake Assist 2 can not always prevent accidents, power brakes automatically reduce the speed before impact and thus substantially mitigates the consequences of an accident.

Active Brake Assist system will replace the previous two early next year. As in previous years, Mercedes-Benz will do everything possible as Active Brake Assist system 2 is installed on as many trucks as possible, including in the same package and other safety systems at attractive prices.

2 Active Brake Assist will be installed first on the Mercedes-Benz Actros in the second half of September in the International Commercial Vehicle Show in Hanover.
