MINI Coupe and Speedster have been confirmed for production

Norbert Reithofer, CEO of BMW AG, has officially announced that two new models will be built at MINI plant in Oxford UK. The two vehicles will have its world premiere at Frankfurt: MINI MINI Coupe and Speedster concept.

After hatchback versions, convertible and Clubman, MINI will introduce two new models. One of them is Mini Coupe Concept (pictured), recently unveiled before its debut in Frankfurt. The second model but was not nominated, but media speculate that the Speedster, roofless version of the coupe.

Most likely the new models will have under the hood the 1.6 liter turbo engine, the MINI John Cooper Works model, which will develop 211 hp and 260 Nm of torque (280 Nm with overboost). However it is quite possible that new models are offered to customers and the diesel engine more efficient and effective.

More details will be disclosed clearly in the Frankfurt Motor Show (15-27 September 2009).
