Mitsubishi i-MiEV's production reached 5,000 units

Mitsubishi Motor Corporation (MMC) announced on November 23, reaching 5,000 units for the production of its 100% electric model, i-MiEV, built at the Mizushima plant in Japan.

MMC was the first car that started the mass production of a 100% electric vehicle, the Mitsubishi i-MiEV in June 2009. After a month the model was officially launched on the Japanese market, Mitsubishi has sold 3000 units and by individuals and companies throughout the country (until the end of October 2010).

Mitsubishi has also launched the i-MiEV production with European specifications since October 2010 and is now placing on all global markets.

For further expansion of production scale, in 2011 Mitsubishi plans to transfer part of current production assembly line of commercial vehicles on the assembly line of mini cars, and eK Wagon and Mitsubishi "i".
