Nissan has announced it will produce in its plant Leaf model of Sunderland, United Kingdom.

Nissan announced the Leaf will be produced in a third location. It's Sunderland, United Kingdom. Thus, the Japanese electric model will be assembled in Oppama, Japan, Memphis, Tennessee, USA and Sunderland, United Kingdom.

Nissan will get the first copies of the production line in England in 2013, when production facility capacity will be raised to 50,000 units per year. Moreover, at Sunderland Nissan will build a factory to produce lithium-ion batteries. Construction will begin in April this year. New Nissan production facility in England is the result of an investment of 468 million.
