Official: Ferrari 599 Hybrid debuts at the Geneva Motor Show 2010

Update! Ferrari will launch its first hybrid technology model Ferrari 599, confirmed the company's director, Luca di Montezemolo, the official presentation of the team and Formula 1 car for 2010. The model will debut at the Geneva Salon.

The first pictures of the new Ferrari 599 GTB Hybrid were saved on the internet before its official debut at the Geneva Motor Show. According to sources, the propulsion system of the concept "green" (literally and figuratively) comprises an electric motor that produces about 100 hp and 137 Nm, is attached at the rear of the transmission and battery pack is located beneath the floor.
Excess power generated by the electric motor will offset the additional weight (about 100 kg), thus the 599 Hybrid concept fastest production model of the Italian brand.
Hybrid system is still in early stages of development and certainly will not be offered in several versions of cars than Ferrari over at least 1-2 years.

Luca di Montezemolo, Ferrari company director, has officially confirmed that the first hybrid vehicle, a prototype based on the model 599 will officially debut at Geneva Motor Show in March, without specifying details.
European patents have already revealed last year that Ferrari is working on a hybrid powertrain, wheel drive, where the front engine driving the front wheels. Italian magazine published an article in Quattroroute which says that the new system uses an electric motor and Li-ion batteries to reduce CO2 emissions polluting V12 engine with up to 35%.
According to sources in the Ferrari, the hybrid system is derived from the system KERS (kinetic energy recovery system), used in Formula 1 season in 2009.
