Official: Porsche 918 Spyder designed hybrid will be built in series

At a meeting yesterday, driving Porsche gave the green light introduction into series production hybrid concept Porsche 918 Spyder, presented the world premiere at the Geneva Motor Show in March.
Due to positive feedback received from the public and customers of Porsche management board has decided to develop a series based on the concept vehicle shown at Geneva.
"Spyder 918's production in a limited number proves that the best way to deal with Porsche Intelligent Performance program, which combines performance with supreme efficiency. We develop the model 918 Spyder Weissach and we will build in Zuffenhausen, "said Michael Macht, President and Director of Porsche AG management board.
Porsche 918 Spyder concept is powered by a plug-in hybrid system consisting of a V8 engine that develops 500 hp, with a maximum speed of 9200 rpm, and two electric motors, located on two axes, with a maximum power 218 hp (160 kW). V8 petrol version is a 3.4-liter unit is already on the RS Spyder racing car. Thus, despite the developed 718 hp, the vehicle has an average consumption of only three liters per 100 kilometers.
More details about the production model Porsche 918 Spyder will be revealed in August.
