Opel announces "Project Earth - Earth Project" at the Cinema for Peace gala 2011

In the evening, renowned Cinema for Peace Gala takes place for the tenth time. This event highlights the work of cinema that address humanitarian issues and environmental concerns. Opel is the sponsor for the first time.
The company will announce the gala proceedings "Project Earth", an initiative that aims to contribute to the preservation and promotion of life on earth. In particular, Earth Project will support research students who have demonstrated exceptional concern for animals, humans and the environment.
"I'm very excited about Project Earth and potential to have a positive impact," said Alain Visser, Vice President Sales, marketing and aftersales at Adam Opel AG. "Cinema for Peace Foundation has the potential to reach millions of people through film, and you can use to emphasize important issues."
At the gala, an international jury including actress Nastassja Kinski and human rights susţinătoarea Bianca Jagger will honor film and video makers in various categories. Winners this year include double Oscar-winner Sean Penn, who will receive honorary trophy Cinema for Peace for humanitarian efforts in Haiti following the earthquake in early 2010. From Opel, Alain Visser will present Green International Film Award for extraordinary achievements and dedication to environmental awareness. Nominations for the award include the film "A Message from Pandora" James Cameron's "Gasland" by Josh Fox and "Jane's Journey" by Lorenz Knauer.
Opel will offer VIP limo service for the Cinema for Peace with amps and 20 electric vehicle Opel Insignia ecoFLEX models. Gala takes place at the Konzerthaus in Berlin.
Awareness of conservation issues in the Arctic, Pacific, Brazil and Tanzania
Project Earth continues the long tradition of Opel on intreresului growth initiatives on environmental issues. Under the auspices of NASA researcher Dr. Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin - Apollo 11 astronaut on the legendary flight, the first manned moon landing in history, and one of only 12 people who set foot on the moon - Earth Project will lead young researchers in areas fragile, but beautiful on earth: the Arctic, the Pacific Ocean, Gulf of California, the rain forest from Brazil and Serengeti in Tanzania. They will visit local organizations working to protect habitat in danger and will assist researchers in their work.
