Opel Astra and the new generation engines have confirmed Amper's production in 2011

With its world debut in Frankfurt next generation Opel Astra, German car brand will offer a range of highly efficient engines with low CO2 emissions. It also confirmed the entry into production of electric model Amper in 2011.

To mark the tenth generation of the Opel compact class, the new Astra will be launched on the market later this year with an engine line consists of 8 engines developing between 95 and 180 hp, perfectly illustrating the brand philosophy of providing vehicle effective, pleasant to lead and at a reasonable cost.

The new line of engines for the Opel Astra model 2010 offers outstanding performance at a low fuel consumption and lower CO2 emissions on average by about 12% smaller than current models. Average consumption of the four diesel engines with power between 95 and 160 hp, expected to represent almost half of total sales in Europe, is only 4.6 litres/100 km.

The new Opel Astra for 2010 will be available to customers with four petrol engines: 1.4i 100 hp (average consumption 5.5 litres/100 km), 1.4 Turbo 140 HP (average consumption 5.9 litres/100 km), 1.6i 115 PS (average consumption 6.3 litres/100 km) and 1.6 Turbo 180 hp (average consumption 6.8 litres/100 km).

Propulsoarelor average gasoline consumption is 6.1 litres/100. Opel continuing strategy to reduce engine capacity engines, the new Astra debuts with a new 1.4 liter turbo propeller that develops 140 hp and 200 Nm between 1850 and 4900 rpm, thus replacing the 1.8-liter unit with 140 hp and 175 Nm and improving consumption almost 18%.

Diesel engine range includes 1.3 CDTI units with 95 hp (average consumption 4.2 litres/100 km), 1.7 CDTI with 110 hp (average consumption 4.7 litres/100 km), 1.7 CDTI with 125 hp (average consumption 4.7 litres/100 km) and 2.0 CDTI with 160 hp (average consumption 4.9 litres/100 km), with direct fuel injection and a particulate filter as standard.

All engines meet emission standards EU5 and most are equipped with six-speed manual transmission. Optional gearbox is available with six-speed automatic, 1.6 engine, 1.4 turbo, 1.6 turbo and 2.0 turbo diesel.

The first model ecoFLEX, 1.3 CDTI emitting only 109 g CO2 / km and an average consumption of just 4.2 litres/100 km will be added to the range in spring 2010.

The new generation Opel Astra will be presented in the public world premiere at the Frankfurt Motor Show (15-27 September 2009), following that of October to arrive in European showrooms.

Opel defend: vehicle with zero CO2 emissions, which uses technology Voltec:

Opel has officially announced that the Ampere electric model will go into production in late 2011. Opel Amper bring electric mobility without polluting emissions of CO2.

The five-door and four places, using technology Voltec, operates differently from conventional electric machines. This model E-REV (Extended-Range Electric Vehicle) use electricity as main source of propulsion and the secondary source gas to generate electricity. Amper's wheels are always powered electrically, regardless of speed.

For journeys of up to 60 km, vehicle operating exclusively with electricity stored in battery li-ion 16 kWh and emits zero CO2. When the battery starts to download, engine-generator is in operation and produce electricity, thus extending autonomy Opel Ampere to 500 km. To recharge Amper foate use a normal 230V outlet.1
