Opel seeks a partner to build a new model of small class

Opel seeks a partner to produce a small class car, positioned below the Agila range manufacturer, said Alain Visser, director of sales and marketing company, quoted by Automotive News Europe.
Segment of small cars from the city becomes increasingly important in Europe as more and more customers waive large machines in favor of smaller, more appropriate and efficient urban transport. All major European producers have such cars in their range, apart from Opel.
Alain Visser, chief sales and marketing of the German brand Opel says that the range could have a very small car to compete for example with the Fiat Panda, but provided that it is manufactured with a partner. Opel official gave the example of Ford - Fiat and Toyota - PSA Peugeot Citroen to collaborate in the production of mini-class cars.
Thus, Toyota Aygo, Citroen C1 and Peugeot 107 are built from the same factory in Czech Republic and in Poland, Fiat 500 and Ford Ka are built together. Opel is already working with Suzuki for the production model Agila respectively Splash, Suzuki built the plant in Hungary.
Director Opel, Carl-Peter Forster, said last month that if you reach an agreement with Magna, a baby car production will begin in three years.
Opel presented in Geneva in 2004, Trixx concept (pictured), a vehicle with 3 +1 seats, by 3.04 meters long, which so far has not reached production. Forster said that Magna has set aside 250 million euros for development of new cars, adding that the new micro-car could have and electric propulsion.
