Peugeot 3008 Hybrid4, first diesel-electric hybrid in the world

Peugeot has unveiled a hybrid version of the crossover 3008, before the beginning of the world premiere in Paris. The new Peugeot 3008 is Hybrid4 first diesel-electric hybrid vehicle in the world, showing a consumption of just 3.8 litres/100 km.

3008 Peugeot Hybrid4 combines a 2.0-liter turbo diesel engine 163 hp to the front wheels propelled by an electric motor of 27 horsepower (37 hp to boost) to move the rear wheels. As a result, the machine not only provides greater efficiency in terms of fuel consumption than a gasoline hybrid engine, but offers four-wheel drive.

Total hybrid system power is 200 hp and 500 Nm maximum torque is divided on two axes: 300 Nm compared to 200 back. Diesel engine, which benefits from the second generation Stop & Start system is coupled to a sequential gearbox with six-speed electronically controlled. Same hybrid system will be used in the new model Peugeot 508 and other models of PSA Peugeot Citroen. 3008 Hybrid4 new product will be in France, to be launched on European markets in early 2011.
