PSA had record sales in 2010: 3.6 million cars
PSA Peugeot Citroen has had record sales in 2010 totaled 3.6 million vehicles worldwide in carrying out its profitability target set for last year, said chief executive Philippe Varin.
PSA has increased its sales by 13% last year compared to 2009, when he delivered 3.19 million cars, despite the European market decline of 5%, Philippe Varin said in a press conference.
Demand in this region will be stable in 2011 but, even if the French market could shrink by 10% after withdrawal program to stimulate new car sales (scrappage program), company officials also predicted PSA Peugeot Citroen. For 2010, the French manufacturer has achieved operating profit target of 1.5 billion euros.
Varin called for reducing dependence on European markets, which in 2009 account for 66% of total sales.
The company expects to reach an agreement for the second Chinese joint venture, Changan Automobile Group Co. announced. PSA plans to build a plant in India and Russia to build a factory in Kaluga partnership with Mitsubishi Motors.
