Rediscovered after 70 years: Opel Kadett Roadster

Opel built a concept developed in 1938, which unfortunately it has not come to be produced in batches. Model Kadett Two-Seat "Strolch, produced after 70 years, will be presented at all events for classic cars.

With a history in the automotive industry for over 110 years, Opel is one of the brands with a rich tradition. Down through the years, some concepts have been forgotten but they reappear much later in the streets.

Is the case now, when the company is preparing the launch of the tenth generation of the compact class - the new Opel Astra - were discovered in an old database, photos of a model roadster. Classic cars experts have said that Opel engineers have built the prototype two-door convertible in 1938 based on first-class compact Opel - Kadett in 30 years. Concept name was noted on the images: Two-Seat Kadett "Strolch" which means "bum".

Roadster has arrived in the series ever, apparently due to lack of steel before the Second World War. Opel was ready for release but, having even a brochure, also found in the archive with the technical data: 1.1-liter engine, 23 HP, three speed transmission, maximum speed 98 km / h.

Opel experts in classic cars were so fascinated by this concept of 30 years that came with the idea to produce the 70 years after initial development. Thus, having only a handy Kadett normal in 1938 and photos of the concept, Opel engineers have built the model.

New Strolch will be from now on all the events for classic cars, the first being the Oldtimer Grand Prix at the Nurburgring, which will be held from 7-9 August.
