Renault has recalled nearly 400,000 cars in service and Scenic Kangoo
Since October 2009, Renault has recalled 399 of 387 preventive and Scenic Kangoo cars, worldwide, to address the steering issues, said on Tuesday, a spokesman for the French group, quoted by the publication Le Parisien.
Of the total number of cars, nearly 144,000 are in France and another 18,000 in Belgium.
Scenic models concerned were manufactured between January 2006-March 2007, and Kangoo were produced between 2008 and January 15, 2009.
These cars require "servo computer reprogramming, because of improper calibration, which may give the impression that the direction is too tough," said Renault. The repair takes about 30 minutes and the cost is borne by the car manufacturer.
The decision was taken in October, and customers were informed by courier.
