Seat announces its ambitions for China at Auto Shanghai 2011 |
|
Seat will be premiered at the Shanghai Motor Show as part of a strategy to expand the brand into new markets. The immediate objectives are to establish a potential customer before the launch on the Chinese market in 2012 Ibiza and Leon models.
"The Chinese market offers great opportunity for brands like ours. Seat design is synonymous with having a young and sporting spirit - attributes that are highly valued in this market, "said James Muir, president of Seat.
Spanish car manufacturer has identified a demand for European cars from the Chinese customers and believes the time is right for a major expansion in this market.
"Our studies have shown that customers appreciate the performance of China's car and drive. Moreover, high technology and engineering are equally important to them and are very sensitive to design, "said Muir. "On this basis, we are pleased that Seat will bring something new and fresh to the car market in China, helping us to establish a brand identity and market position."
Seat plans to gradually increase its presence in China with a vehicle built in Spain, at its plant in Marorell, near Barcelona.
