Skoda Auto in 2009: record sales and profit despite crisis

Last year, car maker Skoda, despite very difficult conditions of the car market, has managed to achieve a record sales, delivering 684,226 cars - 1.4% more than in 2008. Net income fell 68% last year compared to 2008.
At the higher volume of deliveries is particularly strong progress in China auto market, where the 122,556 vehicles were sold (106.7%). This goes on the market registered record sales in Germany, where Škoda Auto sold 162,328 vehicles (44.3%), thanks to subsidies granted under the "First to dispose".
Most models sold in 2009 was Skoda Octavia with 273,590 units (2.4%) and the Skoda Fabia with 264,173 units (7.1%). Highest percentage increase over the previous year was achieved, with 73.7%, ie a total of 44,548 units of Skoda Superb model. Also, the first Skoda model SUV segment - Skoda Yeti - has aroused the interest of buyers. The official launch by the end of September and have been sold 11,018 units of this model.
Škoda Auto Group's financial results were affected by persistent global economic crisis and general market decline. Group turnover fell by 6.2% over the previous year. Revenues were generated from sales of motor vehicles (85.6%), Genuine Parts and Accessories (8.1%), supply of parts to Volkswagen Group (4.6%) and provision of other products and services (1.7%) . But operating profit fell by 56.5% and net profit, after all fees, contracted by 68% compared to 2008, the Czech Koruna 3.46 billion (136 million euros), amid volatile exchange rate and adverse market conditions.
Following the relevant sales for operating profit (ie excluding deliveries to customers in China), we see that they fell from the previous year to 74,000 vehicles, ie 11.8%. Decrease the most important financial indicators were determined, along with lower sales, and the large share of smaller vehicles with lower profit and sales support measures. Despite a decline in financial result, the group managed to obtain a 100% increase over the cash-flow from current activities. Net liquidity registered a remarkable growth, as compared with 2008, 52.4% higher. The emphasis on investment, to put the investment product (and Skoda Yeti Skoda Superb Combi).
Skoda Auto in 2009 and maintains status of the Czech Republic's largest exporter, accounting for a share of about 7% of total exports of the country.
