Supersoft Pirelli Tires Starting At Monte Carlo
After a very fast circuit, as in Spain, Pirelli will hit slowest track in the F1 calendar, but certainly the most famous: Monaco. Tight corners and narrow tires are ideal for beginning Pirelli PZero Rouge.
Also for the first time on the streets of Monaco, Yellow PZero tires (soft) are nominated as first choice after the first five races of the season were secondary option.
PZero Red Version (supersoft) is one of the most extreme of the range of Pirelli and of course, is as powerful as the other range PZero tires. One of the main features is a very short time they reach optimum temperature of use, which means that provides high performance at an early stage, but at the same time very soft composition means a lifetime rather than under 10 tours or even less at the start of the race, when race cars were about 200 gallons of fuel on board.
Monaco's street circuit is one with many opportunities for overtaking maneuvers, which makes qualifying session to be more important than any other circuit. In addition, because there are few areas of safety incidents or interruption of the race is common in the Grand Prix of Monaco.
Weather conditions can be very diverse, which makes the race at Monte Carlo in one of the most unpredictable and exciting races of the year. Therefore, in the past have been few surprises in terms of race winner and nominated for Pirelli combination gives teams the opportunity to shine in the most anticipated race of the year, through a creative strategy.
Paul Hembery, Pirelli motorsport director: "Monaco is a fantastic race, very different from what happens elsewhere. The crown jewel of the world calendar. We look forward to this weekend debut Red PZero tires on the street circuit in Monte Carlo. For us, this will be a completely new experience because all tests were done only on permanent circuits. Composition supersoft tires were created to provide outstanding performance for a short period of time, but this means that wear out much faster, so all teams must be very careful when you set their race strategy. A good strategy will make the difference between winners and losers. For longer exits on the circuit, Yellow PZero tires have proven reliability in the first races of the season, contributing decisively to the show on track while providing pilots the confidence to go to the limit. I said from the beginning, because we want the pilot to play a greater role in the development stage races and hope that Monaco will be a classic example of our philosophy. "
Jarno Trulli (Team Lotus): "The race in Monaco is a special experience for any pilot who start here. It is one of the most exciting events of the year and whether you're directly involved, as a pilot, or are you just a spectator, you can feel the air as the Grand Prix is special. Any driver in the world wants to win in Monaco and I am among the lucky ones after the victory in 2004. Here are subjected to enormous pressure, so it is very hard to concentrate and think about race. To get a good lap time is a major challenge, but if you manage to escape the traffic the chances are very high. Tyres will play an important role here. We have already seen this season how important the tires and the strategy with a street circuit like the one in Monaco where aerodynamic performance does not matter so much believe that tire performance is critical.
