Toyota and Lexus have sold over 2 million hybrid vehicles
With over 200,000 units in Europe, Toyota's global sales, together with its luxury division, Lexus, have exceeded 2 million hybrid vehicles. 2020 Toyota wants to offer each model in the range one hybrid powered version.
Since its launch first hybrid vehicle in the series, the Toyota Prius, in Japan in 1997, over 2.01 million hybrid vehicles were sold worldwide. Toyota has the market in all 13 models with hybrid propulsion, in 50 countries worldwide, including three commercial vehicles in Japan.
According to calculations Japanese manufacturer in 1997, its hybrid vehicles have led to decrease by about 11 million tonnes of CO2 emission given off by cars.
The new generation Toyota Prius arrived in Romania, from 21,261 euros and the UK, launched in August, has already more than 3,000 orders. Lexus is the only premium brand in Europe that offers three hybrid models: GS 450h, LS 600h and the new RX 450h. Together they soon will join a compact class model, expected to Frankfurt concept Lexus LF-Ch.
Since 2010, Toyota plans to offer 10 hybrid models. In July, already announced it will introduce the series production model Hybrid Toyota Auris hatchback. It will arrive in European showrooms in the middle of next year, was also the first step the company plans to offer one hybrid version of each model range by 2020.
