Toyota has sold over 2 million Prius cars

Toyota celebrates yet another event in the life of the Prius - to exceed 2 million units sold since the original hybrid was launched in 1997. Over three generations, about 2.012 million units were sold in over 70 countries.

Given these statistics, Toyota has calculated that the Prius has saved about 11 million tonnes of CO2 emissions compared to gasoline models in the same category and engine power - a major achievement supported by continuous development of full hybrid technology.

Today, the average Toyota Prius emits only 89 g / km of CO2 - the lowest value obtained by a production car with combustion engine and has an average consumption of 3.8 litres/100 km.

Hybrid power is a central element in the development plan of Toyota, the Japanese manufacturer planning more efficient vehicles developed on this platform.
