Toyota plants in Japan will resume in April 18
Japanese carmaker Toyota Motor Corp. has announced it will resume assembly operations at all its factories in Japan, including the prefectures of Iwate and Miyagi, from April 18, according to AFP.
Toyota, the world's largest carmaker, said that for now all 18 of its factories in Japan will operate at reduced capacity due to shortcomings in the supply of spare parts, writes Agerpres.
"Toyota production plants will reopen from 18 to 27 April," said a spokesman for Toyota.
Subsequently, the factories will suspend their activity, like every year, during "Golden Week", the name of a traditional Japanese celebration that takes place between late April and early May.
"The group has not decided anything yet for the days to come," said the spokesman.
Many Japanese suppliers were affected by the earthquake and tsunami of 11 March, the disaster that has disrupted production of parts and materials. Japan Automobile Manufacturers also had to suffer as a result of the disruption of transport, supply chain disruption and interruptions in supply.
