Toyota's hybrid Prius model is investigating brakes

Toyota announced it would begin an investigation following the receipt of complaints from customers regarding the braking system on the 2010 Prius hybrid model. In certain cases, braking is inconsistent and can lead to accidents.

On some models in the range 2010 Prius, Toyota has received several complaints from clients who have accused the company of poor braking vehicle when driving on rough roads or slippery surfaces, according to the communiqué the Japanese producer. As a result, Toyota has confirmed that an investigation began to study the conditions in which this phenomenon occurs, but it is premature now to comment more than this topic.

In the U.S. and Japan, over 100 drivers in the Toyota Prius (new generation, model 2010) have reported problems with braking, arguing that they could lead to accidents. NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) has received about 100 complaints in the U.S. (of which 2 resulted in accidents and injuries) and 14 were in Japan. In Europe there were no reported incidents, according to Toyota Europe.

The Prius is not part of the models included in the current global recall to repair the problems arising with the accelerator "lazy", but was made part of the USA's recall after drivers complained that the pedal is locked in a rubber carpet.
