Volkswagen Group and has increased its market share to 12%

Volkswagen Group and has increased market share overall in the first six months of 2009. In a difficult economic environment, the largest European car manufacturer has managed to increase market share to 12% (versus 9.9% in the same period in 2008).

During January-June 2009, 3,100,300 vehicles were delivered to customers by the Volkswagen group. But passenger car market has contracted during this period by 17.7%. In June, the group increased supplies by 6.5% to 609,800 units.

"Favorable trend in sales statistics show that Volkswagen Group is heading towards a good direction. It arises under the plan. However, you need a major effort in the second half of the year if we want to keep on the same route. Economic uncertainties will continue throughout the year, "said Detlef Wittig, executive vice president of sales department and marketing.

Division of Volkswagen passenger cars reported an increase in market share in the first half of the year by 1.7%, reaching 8% (versus 6.3%). Delivery in June rose by 2.2% to 1,949,000 vehicles. Countries that have contributed to these positive figures were Germany, Brazil and China in particular.
