Volkswagen Polo enter the WRC

Volkswagen will soon announce the entry into the World Rally Championship. German manufacturer is expected to compete with the Polo and the announcement could come on March 22.

According to AutoExpress, Volkswagen will announce by the end of the entry into WRC (World Rally Championship). Although apparently the best model would have been Scirocco WRC regulation because this vehicle can not participate because it exceeds the maximum width. So in preparation Polo WRC is a 1.6-liter turbo engine that will propel future Polo and R.

Volkswagen will join manufacturers Citroen and Ford's new MINI will compete at some stage this year, entering into force in 2012. Volkswagen is expected to do the same, with limited participation in season 2012 and in 2013 to have a constant presence in the Championship.

Volkswagen team involved in the project is rumored that consists of Carlos Sainz, the legendary rally driver and Dakar, Francois-Xavier Demaison, former engineer at Citroen and Subaru and Juho Hanninen, current IRC series winner.
