Volkswagen Race Touareg in March, ready for 2011 Dakar Rally

Update! With a new design, proven technology, Volkswagen Race Touareg began developing the model development, successfully twice in a row, the Dakar Rally in 2011, in South America. 3 Race Touareg will be fully revealed in August.

Volkswagen has unveiled its completely new vehicle for Dakar Race Touareg model 3. Under the hood is a twin-turbo 2.5 TDI engine optimized for better fuel economy, but that produces 300 hp. Transmission is ensured by a new sequential gearbox with five steps.

Measure performance are: three new Race Touareg accelerates from 0-100 km / h in 6.1 seconds and top speed is about 190 km / h.

The new Race Touareg has already passed three tests which amounted to 10,000 km, the simulations of the Dakar stages - the equivalent of twice the length of the rally and a greater distance than Formula 1 through a single user in a full season.

In January 2011, German manufacturer Volkswagen will introduce four Race Touareg vehicles in March with significant aerodynamic improvements in the classic race Argentina and Chile. Cross-country rally cars are created by the new production model Touareg, while assuming the characteristics of the Touareg II. As a result, incorporating dynamic new Race Touareg in a perfect athletic body in May than before, with technologies that have proven capabilities: TDI engine with power of 300 hp and suspension and chassis remain virtually unchanged.

Volkswagen has revealed only one type teaser photo, but photos already spies captured in the model tests.

"Developments in the Race Touareg vehicles in March next logical step is that you do for the main goal in Dakar rally," said Kris Nissen, Volkswagen Motorsport Director. "With the new aerodynamics, the Race Touareg looks more spectacular than before, keeping the design aspect of the Touareg language series and, additionally, receiving many improvements in detail.

Volkswagen Race Touareg three tests will begin in the desert of Morocco in late July, in August following the model to be fully disclosed to the public. In autumn, Race Touareg to start in three Silk Way Rally, which starts in St. Petersburg and ending in Sochi (11 to 18 September 2010), is a perfect workout before the legendary Dakar Rally (January 1 to 16, 2011).
